Choghadiya

choghadiya

Introduction: Choghadiya is like a special clock in astrology. It helps people find the best time for important activities in Hinduism, like prayers and other good deeds. Before starting these tasks, people check Choghadiya to make sure it’s a lucky time. If they don’t check, they might miss the right moment. Choghadiya is used a lot in western India, especially for buying and selling things. It all depends on when the sun rises. The time is a bit different in every city. You can find Choghadiya times in the Hindu Panchang Calendar. Check it today to know the best times for your city!

What’s Choghadiya? In the Hindu calendar, Choghadiya helps us tell good times from bad times. It’s like looking at the stars and using astrology to see how the day will be. If you want to start something good and lucky, you should use Choghadiya to pick the right moment.

Dividing the Day: A day has 24 hours, but Choghadiya divides it into 16 parts. Eight are for daytime and eight for nighttime. Each part is about one and a half hours long. That means there are 112 parts in a week, both during the day and at night. You should know about these parts when you do prayers or special things during the day and night. Choghadiya timing is important for trips or special events. People believe that doing good things during the lucky time gives better results.

Understanding “Choghadiya”: The word “Choghadiya” comes from two words, “Chau” (Four) and “Ghadiya” (Time). In the past, Indian time was different from today. People used “Ghati” instead of “Hours.” If we compare them, 60 “ghatis” and 24 hours are the same. But there’s one difference: in our time, a new day starts at midnight and ends at the next midnight.

In Indian time, a new day starts with the sunrise and ends with the next sunrise. Each Choghadiya is about 4 hours long. So, in one day, there are 16 Choghadiyas.

Types of Choghadiya: There are seven types of Choghadiyas or Muhurats: Udveg, Chal, Labh, Amrit, Kaal, Shubh, and Rog. Eight of them happen during the day, and eight during the night. There are two types of Choghadiyas in the Hindu Panchang Calendar, and each type has eight Choghadiyas (Muhurats). Let’s see what they are:

  • Day Choghadiya: It’s the time between sunrise and sunset. Amrit, Labh, Shubh, and Chal are good times. Amrit is the best, and Chal is also good. On the other hand, Rog, Kaal, and Udveg are not good times. We avoid starting important things during these times. We’ll show you the Day Choghadiya Chart to help you understand.
  • Night Choghadiya: Night Choghadiya happens between sunset and sunrise. There are eight Choghadiyas at night, and they are just like the Day Choghadiyas. We’ll also show you the Night Choghadiya Chart to help you understand better.
